Wood-fired salt-glaze, decorated with sprigs and iron-bearing salt-slip. Wheel-thrown stoneware, fired to 1300*C. This generous mug holds a copious cuppa, 400ml or a good half pint. The pot has been fired on the top shelf, so it’s been hot; the wonderful maturation of glaze surface is result of a rich blast of salt and fly-ash. It is fired on refractory wadds, hence the decorative halos to it’s base. This serves to elevate and separate the pot from the shelf to prevent it binding. The liner glaze to the inside is a deep orange shino.
